Velveeta Research

11 Feb

Okay, y’all.  I am seriously back-and-forth on whether to post this.  At first it sounded fun, now I just think it’s stupid and cheesy.

Maybe I’ll just delete.

Oh what the heck.  One of you probably has just the information I’m looking for.  But please read this with the knowledge that I am keenly aware of the ridiculousness of this request.

I want to know your favorite movie kiss.  There.  I said it.

Here’s the deal:  It has to be just a kiss.   It should be more than a peck, but it can’t turn into something else.  It has to start and stop.   And it should say you are the one I’ve been looking for where have you been all my life let’s do this forever or something along those lines.

Ready?  Go.

Since we’re going with cheese, I’m going to put in the cheesiest of all because I absolutely love it and it gives me chills just thinking about it. I’m almost embarrassed. OK, I’ll just say it.

Titanic. At the front of the ship. Beautiful. Cheesy? Of course. Cliche? Absolutely. Does it make me want to ravage my husband? Definitely. 🙂

Oh, and if you’re looking for pure, unconditional love, please take a look at Lloyd Dobbler in Say Anything… There is not a greater love story out there. Adam’s a Lloyd Dobbler. Awesome…

I like the kiss in Spiderman, where Spiderman is hanging upside down in the rain.

I’ve actually POSTED about this! (See here: http://anesthesioboist.blogspot.com/2009/01/chocolate-kisses-and-cathedrals-day-in.html).

The three that came to mind for me in that post about the “Kiss-O-Meter” were Charlton Heston and Haya Harareet in Ben Hur (I THINK it’s their second kiss that got me all a-flutter); Jeremy Irons and Patricia Kaas in And Now, Ladies and Gentlemen; and Johnny Depp and Juliette Binoche in Chocolat.

I’m SURE I could have come up with more…I’m just that kinda gal…

I have always liked the kiss between Elinor and Edward in Sense & Sensibility. But I agree that the upside down kiss in Spiderman is a good one too.

I have to agree about Johnny and Juliette in Chocolat. Also, the moment where he realizes she’s dived into the river and is swimming towards the burning boat and dives in after her. It makes me shivery and weak.

Guys and Dolls (the movie, i guess) between Sarah and Sky Masterson. When they sing the song about finding your love and I’m all like “I want a man!”

    OR

I like the kisses at the end of The Breakfast Club, but they don’t say “I want to spend my life with you” to me.. they’re just kinda awesome

    Or

Angel and Collins at the end of “I’ll cover you” during Rent (ha, I’m picking musicals that have been made into movies!) They are one of my favorite couples!

Or PRINCESS BRIDE!!!!!!!!!! Westley and Buttercup. Best movie ever. Probably their last kiss, or maybe their first?

Jennifer Garner and Marc Ruffio in 13 going on 3o. Under the stars, at a park, just completely sweet

The end of Ferris Bueller – before he runs home – major kiss w/Sloane, then as he runs off she says wistfully, “he’s gonna marry me one day…”

And then – long before he was McDreamy – I always loved the end of “Can’t Buy Me Love” when she ditches her snobby friends and jumps on the riding mower and they smooch & ride off into the sunset…

geez cheez, am i child of the 80’s or what???

This is so hard! And I’m sure there are way better ones…but this is fresh on my mind cuz I just watched it this week, so I’ll just go with it.

Giselle and Robert at the end of Enchanted 🙂

The 13 going on 30 one is good, too…

both very sweet and innocent 🙂

This is a tough one for me…I could list so many! I do also like the Can’t buy me love ending… but here are a few of my top picks:

    – Melanie Griffith and Harrison Ford in Working Girl (but it did later turn into something once they got back to his place but I love how they drop their brief cases at the bottom of the stairs and keep kissing)
    – Drew Barrymore and the Prince in EverAfter
    – Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks at the end of You Got Mail
    – Kiera Knighlty and Mr. Darcy at the end of Pride and Prejudice
    – Gweneth Paltrow and Mr. Knighlty in Emma
…the list could go on for miles!

I would have to say the kiss in It’s a Wonderful Life between George and Mary (before they are married) just after Sam Weinwright (sp???) calls Mary from New York. It is so full of passion and desperation and the eye contact gives me chills just thinking about it!
